Make it Awesome

So you need a total joint replacement.

Perhaps it feels as if a calamity has befallen you.  It’s terrifying to imagine. A hard road lies ahead. Those are all possible mindsets you could be in.

But you can adopt a different mindset, so you can readily find in yourself the willingness to do all the constructive things you need to do, and forego a few things that might hold you back.

Hey, this doesn’t have to be a heavy, serious endeavor. The heavier it seems, the lighter we have to hold it, if we hope to have any cognitive distance from it. So keep it light.

Give your preparations and healing a great soundtrack. Discover some new music you love (or old favorites) and how it can lead you to enjoying movement in the body, and bringing the right level of intensity to exercise.

With Peggy Huddleston’s Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster program, you’ll stay focused on the next milestones ahead as you steadily progress, with adequate compassion for yourself.

Or imagine you’re a contestant on a reality show, where you’re going to kick osteoarthritis’ ass and before long be golfing or swimming or whatever you love, and in better physical and mental shape than you’ve been in many years.

Or imagine that a whole team of caring folks are cheering you on as if you were rounding the bend at a marathon. Or even better, you’re going to assemble an actual team of caring folks, both healers and supporters who are rooting for you every step of the way.

In short, you’re going to have all the support and tools you need to make this a time of renewal, a sabbatical from which you will launch with renewed vigor. Let’s make it awesome.
